Depolarization factor for the scattered gas.

The variable accounts for the anisotropy of the scatterer. It is the ratio of intensities parallel and perpendicular to the plan of scattering. A table of measured values is given by Penndorf (1957). Some values are: H2=0.02, N2=0.03 O2=0.06, CO2=0.09 and atmospheric air=0.03.
