Short-forms for naming workspace variables

This is a mostly auto-generated list of short-forms for naming workspace variables in ARTS.

All variables in ARTS use short-hand names to identify them and simplify writing and using them. The keys to read these short-hand names are listed below.

All complete short-hand names are separated by an underscore (_), or equals the name itself.

Coordinates

alt

Altitude

freq

Frequency

lat

Latitude [-90, 90].

lon

Longitude [-180, 180) circular.

zen

Zenith angle [0, 180].

Gridded

field

Contiguous values defined along one or more dimensions. May be ungridded.

grid

Sorted one-dimensional grids.

path

Paths contain values sampled along a trajectory through the atmosphere. Unlike profiles, paths are possibly not aligned with any grid.

point

Values are extracted at a single coordinate in a field.

profile

Profiles are cuts through a field along a single dimension, e.g., the altitude.

single

Contains a single value extracted from a frequency grid.

spectral

Defined over a frequency grid.
