SpeciesEnum

class pyarts3.arts.SpeciesEnum(*args, **kwargs)

The valid species for the ARTS system.

This identifies the species that can be used in the ARTS system. It has a wide variety of applications internally.

In terms of atmospheric properties, it is used to identify the VMR in the atmosphere of the species. See AtmField and AtmPoint for its usage there.

For some applications, it is simply an identifier in a map, such as for SpeciesEnumVectors.

For some applications, it is an extension of the species identifier, such as for QuantumIdentifier, QuantumLevelIdentifier, and SpeciesTag.

The type is also used extensively in the absorption system for identifying species. This includes AbsorptionLookupTables, CIARecord, XsecRecord, and AbsorptionBands. Specifically for the latter, the inner AbsorptionLine type has line shape parameters that are mapped to the species identifier.

Valid options:

  • "Bath" or "AIR": Any non-descript species

  • "Water" or "H2O": Water

  • "CarbonDioxide" or "CO2": Carbon Dioxide

  • "Ozone" or "O3": Ozone

  • "NitrogenOxide" or "N2O": Nitrogen Oxide

  • "CarbonMonoxide" or "CO": Carbon Monoxide

  • "Methane" or "CH4": Methane

  • "Oxygen" or "O2": Oxygen

  • "NitricOxide" or "NO": Nitric Oxide

  • "SulfurDioxide" or "SO2": Sulfur Dioxide
